Saikawt, October 4, 2023 – An unidentified decomposed body was discovered in the Tuiṭhapui River near Saikawt Primary Health Center (PHC) on October 3, 2023, at approximately 12:30 pm. The grim discovery has raised questions and concerns in the local community.
Upon receiving the report, the police promptly dispatched officers to the scene. They retrieved the decomposed body from the river and transported it to the district hospital for further examination and investigation. Sources indicate that by the time it was recovered, the body had significantly decomposed.
As of now, the identity of the deceased remains unknown. The unidentified body was found wearing a red shirt and black half-pants. Local authorities are currently working to establish the identity of the individual.
A case has been registered under UD No. 8/CCP-PS/2023 u/s. 174 CrPc, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the decomposed body is underway.
