October 3, 2023: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) at Lamka, which had declared an indefinite shutdown in protest against the abduction of 7 Kuki-Zo individuals, including 2 minors, has announced the cessation of the shutdown. The shutdown, which had been ongoing since October 2, 2023, will conclude by 6 pm today, October 3, 2023.
ITLF, after careful consideration, has decided to end the shutdown, but they will continue to monitor the situation closely. Should the need arise for further and more intense agitation, ITLF has assured the public that they will issue a public notice to inform everyone.
Additionally, regarding the ITLF Women Wing’s weekly dharna, which had been a regular feature of their protest activities, the organization has decided to cancel the dharna scheduled for tomorrow, October 4, 2023. However, they plan to resume the weekly dharna as usual from the following week.
ITLF expressed its gratitude towards the general public and the volunteers for their cooperation and support during the shutdown. The organization’s protest, while coming to a temporary halt, underscores their commitment to seeking justice and addressing the issues faced by the tribal communities in the region.
As the situation develops, ITLF continues to advocate for the rights and welfare of these communities, and their actions serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and equality in the region.
